Little Dreams

There are friends that go to school with me, and I know that they're models. They either plaster their facebook pages with skimpy photos of themselves in hideous swimsuits, or have discreet pictures where they just happen to look like dolls with a serene background. But when modeling work extends to college, the outcomes are a little more serious. I recently found out that my friend, Sydney, who graduated from high school 2 years ago, is now in college part time, while balancing a full fledged modeling career. I'd always heard the story of Chanel Iman, who was blessed with a well connected Aunt, or Arlenis Sosa, who was seen by another influential member who watched her as she walked to class. But I'd never heard of anything like that happening so close to home. Sydney models for both W and Elle, as well as for companies such as J. Crew, and Anthropologie. If only everyone were as well connected as Chanel or Arlenis. Or even Sydney. I'll just save my dreams for later...
